Water for coffee: keep the measurements separate

TDS, hardness and alkalinity answer different questions.

Understand the choice

A conductivity meter’s TDS estimate is not a full water analysis. Two waters can have the same displayed TDS while containing different ions. Hardness and alkalinity are useful separate measures when investigating brewing or scale formation.

Put it into practice

Use potable water and the equipment maker’s water guidance. The water-blend tool only computes a weighted mixture of numbers you supply; it cannot certify drinking safety or predict a complete flavour profile.

Keep the conversation useful

Share your actual recipe or experience, identify the coffee or equipment and explain what changed. A clear question with measurements makes the discussion easier for others to answer.
