Drinking instant coffee for a long time is not excessive caffeine but this, you must pay attention

Instant coffee is really not as scary as you think, especially now that the harm of trans fats is well known to everyone and food technology is developing increasingly sophisticatedly. As the world's largest food manufacturer, Nestlé will not be so stupid as to not even know how to deal with trans fats.

Let's analyze the recipe of Nestle's most common instant coffee.

As can be seen from the picture above, the basic formula of this coffee (cappuccino flavor) is: milk solids, vegetable oil (not non-dairy creamer!), instant coffee (15%), maltodextrin, sugar, stabilizer (potassium phosphate, polyphosphate, sodium citrate), salt, anti-caking agent (silicon dioxide).

This is a very basic recipe. The other flavors are based on this recipe by adjusting the ratio of sugar and coffee and adding some other flavors. And this is not a sample specially found for the purpose of showing a simple recipe. This is the most common and cheapest product in the supermarket. So it is representative.

It can be concluded that:

1 This instant coffee does not contain trans fat

2. The caffeine content in this instant coffee is not high

A pack of 18g instant coffee, of which 15% is coffee powder (instant), is calculated based on the caffeine content of instant coffee, so the caffeine content of this cup of instant coffee is about 84mg. The generally accepted upper limit of caffeine intake for most healthy adults (non-pregnant women) is 400mg. So 2 cups of instant coffee a day is far from the risk of excessive caffeine intake.

3. High sugar content

Each 18g portion of coffee contains 10.4g of sugar. Drinking two cups of coffee means you consume more than 20g of sugar, which accounts for more than 23% of the recommended daily sugar intake. Therefore, if you continue to drink it for a long time and do not control your intake of other added sugars, you will gain weight and increase your risk of diabetes.
