Your starting point

Use a scale, a timer, clean equipment and good drinking water. The quantities below are an original practice recipe to help you compare changes, not an official certification standard.

Step by step

  1. Inspect the gasket, filter and safety valve when the pot is cool. Follow the maker’s water-fill instruction and keep the valve unobstructed.
  2. Fill the basket loosely with a suitable grind and level it; do not tamp. Wipe the sealing surfaces.
  3. Assemble securely and heat on a compatible hob with the handle away from direct flame.
  4. Reduce or remove heat as coffee reaches the upper chamber and before prolonged sputtering. Let pressure and heat subside before opening.

Taste, adjust, repeat

Use the pot’s intended batch size instead of scaling it like a pour-over. Replace damaged gaskets and keep the valve clear. Follow the exact model’s manual.

Keep a brew note

Save the bean name, roast date, dose, water, beverage yield, grind, temperature, time and one sensory observation. Repeat before changing several variables at once.
