How to process coffee beans without a grinder

Coffee is an indispensable drink for many people every morning, but how can we deal with coffee beans when there is no grinder at home? This article will introduce some simple and effective methods to help you process coffee beans.

Manual grinding with knives

If you don't have a professional coffee grinder, you can try to grind it manually with a knife. First, prepare the knives you need, such as a kitchen knife or a small meat chopper. Then, put the right amount of coffee beans in a sturdy and easy-to-clean container.

Next, place a thick, durable paper on a clean, flat surface and fold it in half. Then tilt the container with the coffee beans over the paper and tap the bottom of the container hard enough to make the pieces fall onto the paper.

Repeat this process until all the coffee beans are broken up. Finally, use your fingers to gently collect the fragments from the paper and transfer them to a coffee pot or filter.

Manual grinding with a rolling pin

In addition to knives, you can also try to use a rolling pin for manual grinding. First, prepare a sturdy rolling pin and a plastic bag. Put an appropriate amount of coffee beans in the plastic bag and gently hit the beans with a hammer or other heavy objects to make them more fragile.

Next, sprinkle some fine salt or sand on a clean, flat surface and place the plastic bag on top of the salt or sand. Then use a rolling pin to gently roll the plastic bag until all the coffee beans are turned into powder.

Finally, open the plastic bag and pour the grounds into a coffee pot or filter to enjoy freshly ground coffee.

Buy pre-ground coffee beans

If the above methods are too cumbersome or impractical for you, you can consider buying pre-ground coffee beans. These beans are usually labeled on the package with the appropriate brewing method, such as drip or French press.

When buying, make sure you choose fresh, well-packaged products. Also, choose the right grind for your preferred flavor.

Summarize

Although not having a professional coffee grinder may cause some trouble for us, we can still enjoy delicious and fragrant coffee by grinding by hand with a knife or rolling pin and buying pre-ground coffee beans.

Whichever method you choose, remember to be patient and meticulous and adjust the size of the powder to your personal taste. I wish you a perfect and enjoyable cup of coffee!
