Dark roasted or medium roasted coffee beans? Which is better?

Dark roasted or medium roasted coffee beans? Which is better?

The degree of roasting of coffee beans has an important influence on the taste and flavor of coffee. Generally speaking, coffee beans can be divided into two types: deep roasting and medium roasting. So, which one is better? There is no absolute answer to this question, because everyone's preference for coffee is different.

Deep roasting means roasting coffee beans at high temperature for a long time, making the surface dark and shiny. This roasting method will cause more acidification inside the coffee beans and reduce some of the original flavor. Deep roasted coffee is usually rich, bitter and delicious.

Medium roasting is between light and dark, with a brown color and no obvious oiliness on the surface. Compared with deep roasting, medium roasting retains more original flavor, has higher acidity, smooth taste and rich fragrance.

Therefore, when choosing coffee that suits your taste, you can decide whether to choose dark roast or medium roast according to your personal preference. If you like a strong, bitter taste, then dark roast may be more suitable for you. If you prefer a more acidic, fragrant taste, then medium roast may be more in line with your taste.

Of course, other factors should be considered when choosing coffee beans, such as origin and variety. Coffee beans from different origins and varieties will perform differently under different degrees of roasting. Therefore, it is best to understand its characteristics and appropriate roasting degree before buying coffee beans.

In short, both deep roasting and medium roasting have their own characteristics and advantages, and it depends on personal preference for coffee flavor. Only by trying and experiencing can you find the coffee that best suits your taste.
