Is freshly ground coffee better or instant coffee?

Is freshly ground coffee better or instant coffee?

I received a question early in the morning asking me whether freshly ground coffee or instant coffee is better.

After thinking for a while, I couldn’t sort out my thoughts.

From the perspective of flavor alone, freshly ground coffee is definitely better.

If you look at it from all aspects, each has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Why do I live like this? Read on.

First of all, the earliest coffee refers to coffee ground from coffee beans, which has never been extracted and brewed. It has many flavors and is very popular in Europe and the United States. Instant coffee was developed in modern times and is extracted from coffee liquid. It was first widely used in wars. Its flavor is relatively fixed, after all, it is a standard product .

Of course, instant coffee is criticized because of the way it is extracted. It is not brewed directly from ground coffee, but is extracted. But no matter whether it is extracted or not, it comes from coffee, and its flavor also comes from coffee.

Many people think that the flavor of instant coffee after extraction cannot be the same as that of freshly ground coffee. That's right. Coffee itself has different flavors when facing different brewing methods. How can a drink that can change due to various factors such as climate, bean variety, brewing tools, brewing time, etc. not be affected by its extraction method ?

Secondly, as I just said, instant coffee was first widely used in wars, and was brought to the battlefield for soldiers to drink conveniently. In fact, the current widespread use of instant coffee is also like this. Most people who drink coffee are office workers like Xiaolu, or students who need to refresh themselves for study, whether they are postgraduate students, college entrance examination candidates, or college students. Most people drink instant coffee for convenience, speed, and refreshment.

Most people who drink freshly ground coffee either have their own brewing tools and can make it when they have time, or have enough money or are willing to spend their own money to order a cup of freshly ground coffee every day. The market price of freshly ground coffee with a slightly better flavor is generally between 30 and 70 yuan, which is actually not the price of particularly good coffee. In other words, if you want to drink good coffee, it is recommended that you choose your favorite coffee beans and grind them yourself, and the flavor may be more satisfactory to you. Or if you don't want to spend more money to buy more finished coffee, you can choose a higher-quality coffee shop to taste the coffee made by their baristas with great care. This is a kind of enjoyment.

Finally, whether it is instant coffee or freshly ground coffee, their black coffee is quite bitter. Even if some milk is added to reduce the bitterness, it is still not acceptable to everyone. Most people will add sugar and milk to coffee by themselves, and some will add coffee creamer (non-dairy creamer) . In fact, if you add it in this way, the difference between the two is not big. If you don’t believe it, you can compare it.

Xiaolu’s personal opinion: People who drink instant coffee and freshly ground coffee are different. It’s not a level of high or low, it’s just an attitude towards life.

Some people love coffee and enjoy every change it brings, so they have certain requirements on the taste, flavor, region, brewing tools, time, etc. of the coffee.

Some people only regard coffee as a tool to refresh themselves or as a drink in their spare time. They do not integrate coffee into their lives so deeply, so they will choose instant coffee.

There is no right or wrong in life, it just looks different from different angles.
