Two major types of coffee beans: Did you know?

Coffee is one of the most popular drinks in the world, and coffee beans are the key raw material for making coffee. According to different varieties and origins, coffee beans can be divided into two main types: Arabica and Robusta.

Arabica is one of the most common and widely used types of coffee beans. They are generally considered to be of higher quality, better tasting, and contain less caffeine. Arabica beans grow in areas with higher altitudes, warmer climates, and fertile soils, such as Colombia, Brazil, Ethiopia, etc. These regions provide ideal environmental conditions, allowing Arabica beans to fully develop their unique and complex flavor.

Robusta, on the other hand, is considered a lesser variety. They usually have a stronger and more bitter taste and contain more caffeine. Robusta beans are highly adaptable and can grow in harsh environments such as low altitudes, drought or rain. They mainly come from places such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Brazil, where the climatic conditions allow Robusta beans to grow and maintain high yields.

In addition to Arabica and Robusta, there are a few other coffee bean varieties. For example, Excelsa is a relatively rare but unique tasting coffee bean. It is often used in blends to add complexity and flavor.

Whether it is Arabica or Robusta, everyone has different preferences for coffee. Some people like the delicate aroma and smooth taste of Arabica beans, while others prefer the strong, rich taste and strong stimulation of Robusta beans.

In summary, although there are only two main types: Arabica and Robusta, there are still many other varieties around the world that enrich our understanding and experience of coffee flavor.
