Put down that Starbucks! Make your own hand-brewed iced latte for a more refreshing drink

Video loading...

I know you are looking at your phone right now, probably holding a cup of Starbucks and feeling sleepy. Although I am also sleepy, I am holding my own hand-brewed ice latte, the flavor is completely adjusted according to my personal preferences, and I suddenly feel that my sleepiness has become unique...

Although the lady who makes coffee at Starbucks is professional, how can she know the coffee-to-milk ratio we like, whether we prefer dark or medium roasted beans, and how much ice to add to make us feel "so cool"... So even if it is a little troublesome, you can still try to put down Starbucks and make yourself a cup of hand-brewed iced latte to see if it is more refreshing and cooler?

Ingredients: Italian deep roasted coffee beans

Ingredients: ice cubes, milk

Time: 20 minutes

Difficulty level: ***

Specific steps:

step1

Use a measuring spoon to scoop 2 spoons of Italian deep roasted coffee beans, pour them into a hand-cranked grinder, grind them into medium-coarse powder and set aside; turn on the "tea brewing button" of the instant hot water dispenser and connect 150ml of 85-degree hot water, put the filter paper on the filter cup, pour a little water to wet it, so that the filter paper fits more closely on the wall of the filter cup;

Tips: The darker the roasted beans, the coarser the ground particles are, and the lower the water temperature for hand brewing is. For example, the most easily available Starbucks Italian deep roasted coffee beans can be ground into medium coarse powder and extracted with 85-degree hot water. I use an instant hot water dispenser, which can be placed on an office desk or in the living room. The dedicated "tea brewing button" can provide 85-degree hot water in 5 seconds, which is very suitable for brewing tea or making hand brewed coffee.

If you don't have these, don't worry. Just boil hot water and pour it into the hand brewing pot before grinding the beans. When the beans are ground, the water temperature can basically drop to between 80-90 degrees. Water in this temperature range is just right for hand brewing.

You can also ask the merchant to pack the coffee beans when you buy them, and then seal them for storage. It is best to use them up within 1-2 weeks.

step2

Pour the coffee powder onto the filter paper, hold the hand brewing kettle and pour water from a low height in a small concentric circle with a steady small water flow clockwise. Stop pouring water after the coffee powder is completely immersed, and let the coffee powder simmer for 30 seconds.

Tips: Steaming coffee can make the coffee powder fully expand and saturate, and the aroma will gradually begin to be released. However, please note that the deeper the roasted beans, the shorter the steaming time, otherwise the coffee will easily be over-extracted.

step3

Continue to pour water at a low height using the same method. During this process, you will see rich foam produced and the water level will gradually rise until all the water in the hand-brewed kettle is poured in.

Tips: Gentle water pouring is not a performance, but to ensure that all coffee powder can be fully soaked and evenly extracted. Low-height water pouring is also to ensure that the flushing force is not too strong. Do not deliberately pour water around the outer edge, as this will easily allow the coffee powder to enter the lower pot along the edge, causing water overflow.

step4

Pour ice cubes into the glass, then pour in milk according to taste, then hold the sharing pot and slowly pour the coffee onto the ice cubes along the edge of the cup, and then pour it through the ice cubes into the bottom of the cup. Add your favorite type of sugar according to personal taste.

Tips: Pouring coffee in this way can ensure that the coffee and milk form layers. The top layer of coffee is close to the American taste. When you are halfway through drinking, the ice cubes will gradually melt. At this time, you can pour the remaining coffee in the sharing pot directly into it. The coffee will be fully mixed with the milk, the layers will disappear, the color will become lighter, and the taste will be completely different.
