How to properly care for newly bought coffee beans

Caring for newly bought coffee beans is an important step to ensure the taste and quality of coffee. The following will introduce how to properly care for newly bought coffee beans from three aspects: storage, grinding and brewing.

First of all, proper storage is the key to keep coffee beans fresh. Generally speaking, coffee beans should be stored in a dry, cool and dark place, away from moisture and high temperature. Moisture will cause coffee beans to deteriorate, while high temperature will accelerate the oxidation process. Therefore, it is a good choice to choose a cabinet suitable for storing food at home or buy a sealed can specifically to store coffee beans. In addition, it is best to squeeze out the excess air on the packaging bag before storage, and seal the bag with a clip to prevent air from entering.

Secondly, proper grinding is also crucial to maintaining the aroma of coffee. Generally speaking, grinding on the spot before brewing can maximize the retention of active ingredients and aroma substances in coffee powder. If you don't have a coffee grinder, you can choose to buy ready-made coffee powder or find a professional coffee shop to help you grind. In addition, different brewing methods require coffee powder of different coarseness and fineness, so when grinding, adjust it according to your preferences and brewing equipment.

Finally, brewing correctly is the key to enjoying delicious coffee. Before brewing, heat the water to the appropriate temperature (usually 90-96 degrees Celsius), and then pre-wet the filter with an appropriate amount of water. Next, put the appropriate amount of coffee powder into the filter according to the proportion, and slowly pour the water that has just finished boiling and slightly cooled down on the top of the filter to complete the soaking stage in about 30 seconds. Finally, slowly and evenly inject the remaining water until the brewing is completed.

In short, the correct maintenance of newly bought coffee beans includes three aspects: storage, grinding and brewing. Keep the beans fresh through proper storage, properly grind on site to retain the aroma, and brew correctly to enjoy delicious coffee. I hope these tips can help you better maintain your newly bought coffee beans.
