Coffee bean processing: from picking to roasting, the whole process is revealed!

Coffee bean processing is the process from picking to roasting coffee beans. This process goes through multiple links, and each step has an important impact on the final taste of the coffee.

The first is the picking stage. At the right season and time, farmers will pick the ripe coffee cherries by hand. This step is very critical because only by selecting the cherries with the right maturity can the quality be guaranteed. Farmers will carefully select each cherry and put it into the basket.


Next comes the peeling and fermentation stages. In the peeling machine, a machine separates the outer pulp from the inner seeds. The seeds are then placed in large fermentation tanks for fermentation. This process helps remove the mucilage that remains on the seeds and enhances the taste of the beans.

The third step is water washing or dry processing. The water washing method is to put the fermented beans into a sink to clean the remaining substances; while the dry method is to directly dry the whole coffee beans to make them dry and even. These two methods will affect the flavor and taste of the coffee beans.


Then comes the roasting stage. In the roaster, the coffee beans are subjected to high temperatures to evaporate the moisture inside and produce chemical reactions. This process will determine the color, aroma and taste of the coffee. Different degrees of roasting will produce coffee with different flavors.

The last stage is packaging and storage. Once roasted, the coffee beans need to be cooled and placed in sealed bags to maintain freshness and avoid contact with the outside air, which may cause quality deterioration. Proper storage conditions are essential to maintaining the flavor of the coffee.

In summary, from picking to roasting to packaging and storage, each link has an important impact on the final quality. Only high-quality coffee beans that have been carefully processed can bring us a rich and delicious experience.
