Ai Shen Jia: What kind of milk should be added to coffee to make it taste better?

The proportion of milk in a cup of coffee is about 60%, which shows that milk is the most suitable companion for a cup of coffee. What kind of milk is suitable? Below alfeehome shares several different types of milk on the market.

1. Reconstituted milk: The Wangzai milk that is often seen on the market is reconstituted milk. It is made by using milk powder to restore liquid milk. There is still a certain difference in nutritional value from pure fresh milk. This type of milk can only be consumed as a beverage in daily life.

Ultra-high temperature instantaneous sterilized milk: This type of milk is also called ambient temperature milk. The shelf life of this type of milk is very long. Due to high temperature treatment, many heat-sensitive nutrients in the milk, such as vitamins, will be destroyed, and the lactose in it will also be caramelized, so it is not suitable for adding to coffee.

2. Whole/skim/low-fat milk: Many people refuse to choose whole-fat milk when drinking milk. In fact, its fat content is not very high, about 3%-4%. Whole milk is the most commonly used dairy product in coffee shops because its fat content is just right, not too much or too little. When mixed with coffee, it can achieve an ideal balance in flavor and texture.

As for skim milk, it tastes sweeter because it has no fat. Boiling hot skim milk can produce thicker and denser milk foam. When added to coffee, it will make the coffee almost gray and make it sweeter.

The fat content of low-fat milk is around 1%-2%. Although the fat content is reduced, there is actually no significant change in the taste. However, it will appear to have a little too much water when consumed with coffee.

3. Fresh milk: Fresh milk has a wide range of uses, such as making butter, ice cream, cakes, or brewing coffee. The fat content is also relatively high, about 45% to 35%, which can also make the coffee sweet and smooth.

Foamed cream: Every barista needs to make a lot of this kind of milk foam every day for making latte art. When adding coffee to drink, the tiny foam will burst in the mouth, and the coffee, milk and milk foam will combine in the mouth, and then form a smooth taste with a bit of coffee bitterness and milky aroma in the mouth, and emit a different dense taste and mouthfeel.
