Coffee art tips for beginners

We all know that the basis of latte art is based on espresso, and then milk foam is used to make various beautiful patterns.

What every barista wants to do most is to make latte art that people can't help but praise. In fact, the principle of latte art is to grasp the delicate balance between espresso and milk. However, no matter how the pattern changes, the skills of latte art are actually not much different, and can be roughly divided into four aspects:

1. Dumping height

Before we make latte art, we first mix the milk foam and espresso thoroughly. Pour the coffee in from about 5 cm from the bottom of the container, followed by the milk foam. Pouring the milk foam also requires skill, which should flow smoothly and be as thin as chopsticks. With the above method, you will find that the milk foam and coffee can be perfectly blended together. Then it is time to witness the latte art. Pour the prepared milk foam into the coffee. When pouring, do not pour from a high place, but pour as close to the coffee cup as possible. The milk foam poured in this way will float on the surface of the coffee cup and will not be completely integrated into the coffee. In this way, the latte art will last longer.

2. Dumping location

Symmetrical patterns are widely used in latte art. If you treat the milk foam as two different liquids when pouring it into the coffee, then it is easy to create symmetrical patterns. We all know that when you pour liquid into liquid, the original liquid will be pushed to the side by the new liquid, and the same is true for milk foam and coffee. We pour the milk foam evenly from the symmetrical center of the coffee cup, and it is easy to present a symmetrical and divergent pattern in the cup. But if we do not choose the position of the symmetrical center, or if we pour more or less milk foam, then it is not difficult to imagine that the pattern presented will be a group of patterns beyond your ideal!

Other operating tips: Place the coffee cup on a tabletop that is level and allows you to easily overlook the center of the cup. This will provide a better field of vision, allow us to easily align the symmetrical center of the coffee cup, and make it easier to pour the milk foam evenly.

If you have a special liking for white-brown latte art patterns, you can do this by placing the cup on a slightly sloping table, pouring in some milk foam and then steadily placing the cup back on the horizontal table, while carefully adjusting the route of the milk foam, as if they were also poured in the center point. As long as you get the hang of it, exquisite and deep white-brown latte art will appear.

3. Master the milk foam flow

Another key point in making latte art is to accurately control the flow of milk foam. Whether the pattern can be perfectly presented is closely related to the flow. Too much or too fast flow of milk foam will destroy the pattern. So how should we control the flow of milk foam?

If we need to increase the flow rate, we should bring the container with milk foam to the lowest point, the closer to the coffee cup the better. Once the container with milk foam is lowered, we can increase the flow rate at the same time. In this way, we can easily float the milk foam on the surface of the coffee. Of course, this requires long-term practice.
