But why is it so difficult to make latte art every time?

I was looking forward to making a cup of milk coffee, but a small latte art ruined my mood. Today I will share with you three things to pay attention to when pouring milk and blending, I hope it can help you.

To create beautiful latte art using whipped milk and poured over espresso, you first need to understand the fluid dynamics of milk and espresso.

Breaking down all latte art graphics into their main components, starting from the source of each design creation, can make the entire latte art production process easier.

#Height

Think of pouring the milk from the jug into the coffee cup to combine with the concentrate, like someone jumping off a diving board into a pool.

Of course, you don't want to fall in and immediately create a surging wave of white that covers the brown canvas of coffee oil.

So the first thing is to let some of the whipped milk form a base layer under the espresso to support the fat layer , and then use the milk foam to break the fat layer of the espresso to make a latte art pattern on the surface of the coffee.

First, imagine the milk stream as someone jumping from a diving board into a swimming pool, and the espresso in the cup as the water in the swimming pool.

The "diver" enters the water and begins to dive, and tries to keep his body as compact as possible when in contact with the water, so as to create as few ripples and turbulence as possible in the pool.

Therefore, the first time you pour milk into the coffee, you should try to control the amount of milk foam flowing into the cup. The milk foam should be thin and about the thickness of a mouse's tail, and should be poured out from a place slightly higher than the coffee surface by 5 cm.

To swim out of the water, a diver must first open his arms, stir the water, and then swim out of the water. To form a pattern on the surface of the coffee liquid, the milk foam also needs to use the power of the milk flow to open the bottom and create a latte art pattern.

In order to maximize the effect of the milk foam sliding out on the fat, the steel mouth of the latte art pitcher should be as close to the coffee liquid surface as possible to create the pattern.

You can clearly see that the closer your steel mouth is to the coffee liquid, the more white foam will float on the coffee liquid instead of sinking below. So, remember a rhythmic rule: start high and slow, drop to a low point and then push out.

#Position

After pouring milk into the middle of the coffee surface until it is half full, as the milk foam flows out, increase the milk flow and form a snake-like line in the center of the coffee surface.

As your hands swing and move, gradually draw heart-shaped and leaf-shaped patterns.

The starting point of pouring the milk has a big impact on the formation of the image. Because you are pouring one liquid into another, this means that the coffee surface will not be as quiet and obedient as a canvas. The flowing milk is pushed in the espresso in a folded path, gradually forming a pattern.

If you inject all the way into the center of the coffee, you will get a big white dot, and when you push forward at the end, you will get a big white heart;

If you want to make a heart-shaped pattern, you should start increasing the milk flow at the front 1/3 of the coffee surface to make latte art; if you want to make a leaf-shaped or tulip-shaped pattern, you should start injecting at the back 1/3 of the coffee surface.

Another important point is that pouring milk into the center of the coffee to draw the pattern will make the pattern more concentrated in the middle of the coffee liquid surface.

#Flow

The more milk and milk foam flow into your cup, the bigger the pattern you can make. The thickness and force of the milk flow you pour in will have a great influence on the formation of the latte art.

When making latte art, the milk flow will be thicker but gentler than when blending.

The milk flow is relatively large, and the pattern is fuller and rounder, and the lines are more obvious;

If the milk flow is too small when drawing, the finished image will be narrow and small, and it is easy to be distorted or shapeless, so a relatively thick milk flow should be used when shaking the image.

Also, please note that you are injecting the milk stream rather than pouring the milk, so the force must be gentle.

When shaking, the force, amplitude and frequency should not be too excessive. If the force is too great and the frequency is too fast, the formation of the milk foam cannot be well controlled. Instead, it will cause turbulence, disrupting the original trajectory of the milk and making it impossible to form a picture.

When drawing the picture, the mouth of the jug should be as close to the surface of the coffee as possible to allow the milk foam to float on the surface more easily, instead of letting part of it fall into the cup along with the milk and the rest of it remain in the jug.

Start with a low flow rate at a high position, directly hitting the center of the cup; when the cup is half full, lower the milk jug to maintain the flow rate in the center; shake out the milk foam and push forward slowly, raising the milk jug; reduce the flow rate and cut straight ahead.

Coffee latte art may seem simple, but every detail needs to be paid attention to, including your posture when making the art; the control of the swinging force; your force point - whether you use your hands or your wrists; and the forward leaning of your body at the end of the latte art, all of which will affect the formation of the coffee art.

When you are in the practice stage, you must not be impatient, slow down your mind, be calm, and grasp the rhythm. The combination of coffee and milk will produce the effect of 1+1>2, and your latte art technique will be further improved.
