Africa: The origin of coffee

Africa is one of the most important coffee producing regions in the world. According to historians, the first people to grow and use coffee beans were Ethiopians. They dried the freshly picked coffee berries, removed the bean powder inside, and cooled them with water to remove the pulp.

Over time, Ethiopians began to realize that these beans could be made into a delicious beverage and began grinding them, boiling them in cooled water, and brewing them in what we today call “modern” coffee making.


After being introduced from Ethiopia to other African countries, local residents also began to plant coffee trees, and countries such as Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda also became important coffee producing areas.

In Asia, Indonesia is the main producer, which is rich in Robusta beans and is loved by consumers around the world for its rich and unique flavor.
