Choose the coffee roast level that suits your taste

Coffee is a popular drink among the general public, and choosing the coffee roasting degree that suits your taste is very important. Different roasting degrees will bring different flavors and tastes, so it is very necessary to understand the various roasting degrees and choose according to personal preferences.

Light Roast

Light roasts are also called mild or city roasts, where only slight oils are present on the surface of the coffee beans. Light roasts usually retain the most flavor of the original coffee beans because they have not been exposed to a long time and high temperatures. The coffee produced at this level is bright, light, high in acidity, and has prominent floral and fruity aromas.

Intermediate (Medium) Level

Medium-roasted coffee is also known as American or full city. At this level, some oil begins to appear on the surface of the coffee beans, and the roasting reaction begins inside the coffee beans. Medium-roasted coffee usually has a more balanced acidity and sweetness, while retaining some lightly roasted floral and fruity aromas.

Intermediate (Advanced) Level

Medium-dark roasting is also called French or European roasting. At this level, the oil on the surface of the coffee beans is fully released and the color is darker. Medium-dark roasting will produce more carbonized substances inside the coffee beans, so the taste is richer, bitter, and the acidity is relatively low. The coffee made at this level is suitable for making espresso.

Dark Roast

Dark roasting is also known as Spanish or Italian pot roast (Italian RoaST). At this level, the oil on the surface of the coffee beans is fully released and forms a distinct black color. Due to long-term exposure to high temperatures and the accumulation of carbonized substances, dark roasted coffee has a very strong and bitter taste, and the acidity almost completely disappears. Coffee made at this level is suitable for making rich and strong Italian coffee.

Choose the roasting degree that suits your taste

When choosing the right roast for your taste, first consider your preference for the balance between acidity and bitterness. If you like bright, light coffee with floral and fruity aromas, then light roasting is a good choice. If you prefer a more balanced acidity and sweetness, and want some dark flavors, then medium roasting may be more in line with your taste. If you prefer a strong and intense taste, medium-dark or dark roasting is a more suitable choice.

In addition, you can also choose different degrees of roasting according to different scenes or moods. For example, you need a cup of light and bright coffee to refresh yourself in the morning, while you can choose a strong and bitter coffee to relax in the evening.

In short, choosing the coffee roasting degree that suits your taste is a personal decision. By understanding the flavor and taste characteristics brought by different roasting degrees and choosing according to personal preferences, you can enjoy the delicious coffee that best suits your taste preferences.
