Pour over coffee: the perfect tutorial

Pour over coffee is a pure art of coffee, extracting the purest flavor of coffee beans by hand. In this article, we will show you how to make a perfect cup of coffee by pouring over coffee.

Preparation

First, we need to prepare the following materials and utensils:

  • Freshly ground coffee beans
  • Filter paper and filter pot
  • Electronic scales and timers
  • Kettle or kettle
  • Stirring stick or spoon
  • Thermometer (optional)

    Tips:

    - It is recommended to use freshly ground coffee beans as they retain more flavor.

    - Using high quality, moderately thick and odorless filter paper can provide better filtration results.

Step 1: Preheat the utensils and cups

First, preheat the filter and cup by rinsing them with hot water. This will keep the temperature of the coffee stable and reduce the impact on the taste of the coffee.

Step 2: Weighing and Grinding the Beans

Use an electronic scale to accurately weigh the required coffee beans and adjust the ratio according to personal taste. Generally, 10 grams of coffee beans are needed for every 100 ml of water.

Next, use a manual or electric coffee grinder to finely grind the coffee beans to a medium-coarse consistency suitable for hand brewing. Remember to grind freshly before each brew.

    Step 3: Add water

Let the boiling water cool down to about 90°C (if you have a thermometer). Then, pour a suitable amount of boiling water over the filter paper to preheat it to remove the taste of the filter paper and preheat the filter pot.

After pouring out the preheated water, place the coffee beans in the middle of the filter paper and gently shake it with a stirring stick or spoon to evenly distribute the coffee beans.

Next, pour the right amount of water slowly and evenly. Start with a bloom: inject about 2 times the weight of the coffee grounds with water within 30 seconds. This step helps release the carbon dioxide in the coffee beans and provides a better extraction effect.

    Step 4: Brewing and Extraction

After the wet rinse is completed, slowly and evenly tilt the mouth of the pot to start the formal brewing. Keep the water filling speed steady and avoid too fast or too slow.

Wait for all the water to drip into the cup. The whole process usually takes about 2-4 minutes, and the specific time can be adjusted according to personal taste.

    Step 5: Taste and Enjoy

Pour the brewed coffee into the preheated cup and let it cool down a bit. Then, stir it to mix the coffee liquid evenly.

Now you can enjoy your perfect cup of pour-over coffee! Savor its aroma and taste, and adjust it to your personal preferences for the best experience.

    Summarize

By following the above steps, you can easily make a cup of pure and delicious hand-brewed coffee. Remember to keep trying different beans, grinding degrees and ratios to discover more amazing flavor combinations. Enjoy the process of hand-making coffee and immerse yourself in the pure art of coffee!
