Coffee Brewing Method: How to Make a Cup of Coffee Using a Moka Pot?

Invented by Italian Alfanso Bialetti in 1933, it uses the heating method of the base to brew coffee. It is a type of distillation machine and the most popular type of machine for brewing Italian coffee. It is widely used in Italian families. Before the European colonial wave, Yemen has always been the world's main exporter of coffee, so for quite a long time, the word "Mocha" has been used as a synonym for coffee. The current "Mocha pot" actually means a coffee pot.

The moka pot is composed of an upper pot, a filter, and a lower pot. The filter is between the upper and lower pots. When brewing, water is placed in the lower pot and coffee is placed in the net in the middle. When the lower pot is heated, steam is generated, which pushes the hot water up. It passes through the coffee powder and then enters the upper pot to form coffee. Because its air pressure is relatively high, some people classify it as a high-pressure brewing method. Some people also call it handmade espresso, but it cannot brew the layer of foam of Italian espresso. However, it is indeed a very strong coffee. This coffee pot has a simple design and can brew good coffee, so it is widely popular among the general public.

Moka Pot Features

Strength: Between espresso and siphon coffee.

Easy to carry: A must-have for people who like to go hiking and swimming, it is durable and can brew good quality coffee. It is great to have a cup of good coffee with you in the beautiful scenery of the mountains. The traces on it are the struggles it has experienced with you.

Safety: Because of the pressure, pay attention to the control of the alcohol lamp when brewing, and the water in the lower pot must not flood the pressure relief valve.

Steps:

1. Fill the lower pot with water. The water level must not exceed the pressure relief valve on the lower pot.

2. Fill the middle filter with coffee powder and assemble the upper and lower layers of the moka pot.

3. After assembly, place it on the gas stove and heat it over medium-low heat.

4. After the water is heated, the kettle will make a buzzing sound due to the steam, and you can turn off the fire at this time.

PS:

1. When filling the Moka pot with water, special attention must be paid to the water level not exceeding the position of the pressure relief valve. The pressure relief valve can avoid the problem of excessive pressure in the pot, so you need to pay attention when using it.

2. Moka pots are very sensitive to capacity, so you must brew coffee according to the capacity of the pot. If you have a moka pot for 2 people, you should brew 2 cups at a time. If you only brew one cup, the thickness of the coffee powder is not enough, and the resistance to the hot water is insufficient, and the hot water will quickly penetrate , so you can only brew a cup of poorly extracted coffee. Moka pots on the market have capacities of 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 18 people. You should carefully consider your needs before buying.
