Dehong, November 11 (China News Service) (Miao Chao) On the 11th, the "2018 Asian Coffee Annual Conference" was held in Dehong, Yunnan. Coffee industry representatives from China, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, India and other countries attended the meeting to discuss the prospects of the Asian coffee industry.

Xiong Xiangren, chairman of the Asian Coffee Association, introduced that currently, the annual growth rate of global coffee consumption is only 2%, but the coffee consumption in Asia is increasing at an annual rate of 8%. "Especially in China, more and more Chinese people are beginning to accept and love coffee. The coffee consumption in China as a whole is increasing at an annual rate of 20%. "He believes that the Asian coffee industry has ushered in unprecedented development opportunities.

"I noticed that there was both coffee and tea at the conference today. More and more Asians are drinking tea and are slowly falling in love with coffee," said Liang Wenzhi, chairman of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association. Vietnam is currently the world's second largest coffee exporter. Liang Wenzhi believes that the Asian coffee market is growing rapidly, especially in China, and "China will be a very important partner for Vietnam in coffee trade."

This conference not only attracted representatives from the coffee industry in Asian countries, but also invited experts and scholars from the coffee industry in Africa, America and Europe. Kheerfu Belechu Belk, Secretary General of the Ethiopian Coffee Science Society, said that Ethiopia is the world's fifth largest coffee producer, and coffee is the country's main export commodity and economic pillar, helping to maintain the livelihoods of many people. He said that the rapid development of the Asian coffee industry has achieved many new results, and Ethiopia is seeking to increase coffee production and establish an improved quality traceability system. "We hope to establish connections with the coffee industry in Asian countries and carry out exchanges and cooperation in modern integrated supply chains, coffee science and technology transfer, picking, processing and transportation."

Through this conference, coffee industries of various countries will jointly build a platform, deeply explore the value of the industrial chain, realize resource exchange and sharing, jointly promote the coordinated development of the coffee industry in Asia and even the world, and promote the growth of farmers' income in coffee-growing countries.
