Beanscene Stakes Claim For Independents

Today (4th July) Beanscene, the expanding coffee and music house chain, stakes its claim for independents with the opening of its tenth store, at Clarkston Toll. Beanscene, an alternative to city centre corporate coffee chains, bases itself in suburbs, where it operates independently, focusing its efforts on providing its customers with quality products and services.

The recent launch of its Luna Records label turns on its head the conventional record company model of manufacturing CDs for distribution through High Street retail outlets. Instead, in a pioneering move, Luna releases are available exclusively over the counter at Beanscene stores and from its own website at Gordon Richardson, Beanscene founder, said, ‘Rather than city centre operations, Beanscene has always been about the neighbourhood, so Clarkston is a natural location for us. We’ve been looking for a site in the area for some time and are now looking forward to our first summer in the suburb.’

Though this latest addition to the chain takes Beanscene into double figures, it is the first outlet to feature a gallery and a mezzanine level. Located right at the Toll at the bottom of Busby Road, Beanscene Clarkston Toll will be serving a wide range of coffees and food – from sandwiches, soup, salads and pastries by day to tapas, paella and pizza by night, operating a Bring Your Own Bottle policy. Established four years ago, inspired by the coffee house culture in San Francisco, Beanscene is renowned for its enlightened music, child friendly and no-smoking policies. Beanscene Clarkston Toll will open from 7.30am until 11pm seven days a week.
